Community Engagement Worker

Based at Ashfield Fire Station with travel across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire
Are you a committed youth or community worker or volunteer with a passion to make a difference with communities? Do you have the skills, experience and good understanding/knowledge of the cultural/religious barriers to reach underrepresented communities in accessing services and jobs at NFRS?
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) want to make sure our services and roles are accessible and understood by all so we are seeking a Community Engagement Worker to work alongside Firefighters and Community Engagement Officers already in the Community Safety Team. This varied and public focused role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to make a significant impact in our communities by partnering with community organisations to deliver support to both vulnerable and underrepresented groups. The role will facilitate ‘Have a Go Days’ to support recruitment and they will deliver events and careers fairs. NFRS are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented co-ordinator to join our Fire Protection department. This function provides a vital role in keeping the communities of Nottinghamshire safe by working to ensure buildings meet the requirements of fire safety legislation.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Targeted Building Risk Team, providing them with high quality, efficient and professional administration support. As the Fire Protection co-ordinator, you will be at the heart of our Fire Protection team supporting us to maintain vital data systems, co-ordinating meetings, transcribing PACE interviews and providing administrative assistance as we engage and manage some of the most complex premises in the county.

We are looking for someone with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to form strong and constructive relationships, both between Departments and with partners and communities. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery of fire prevention initiatives as well as education and youth and community engagement activities.
This Head of Department role will provide direction and innovation to design and deliver activities which seek to improve our engagement with communities, their understanding of us and to support our workforce diversity. Close working with other service delivery departments is essential to ensure community safety and engagement activities are high quality and aligned to strategic objectives.
The ability to provide direction and leadership to a diverse team of specialists is essential. Designing and evaluating services based on data, evidence and evaluation of activities, to ensure that the team are reaching our target audiences, and are seeking continuous improvement from the activities they undertake, will be vital for this role.
